18th ICC Türkiye Arbitration Day
The 18th ICC Türkiye Arbitration Day, organized with the cooperation of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the National Commitee of the ICC Türkiye and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), was held on Friday, 16 February 2024 at Fairmont Quasar Hotel in Istanbul.
Prof. Dr. H. Ercüment Erdem, Founder and Senior Partner of Erdem & Erdem and a Member of the ICC Court of Arbitration, moderated the panel titled "Addressing Corruption Challenges in International Arbitration". Elena Gutiérrez, Independent Arbitrator and Counsel of EG Arbitration; Dr. Abdulhay Sayed, Managing Partner of Sayed & Sayed SAS; Jennifer Younan, Partner of Shearman & Sterling LLP; and Dr. Gabriele Ruscalla, Legal Counsel of Liedekerke took part in the panel as speakers.
"2023 Highlights of the ICC Court: An Overview Focusing on Türkiye and the MENA" was also presented at the event, where various topics such as recent developments in Turkish international arbitration case law, and the use of artificial intelligence in international arbitration were also discussed..
Arbitrators, legal counsels from the public and private sectors and chambers of commerce, members of the Court of Cassation, judges, lawyers and academics showed great interest in the 18th conference.
