11th ICC MENA Conference on International Arbitration

The 11th ICC MENA International Arbitration Conference, organized by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), took place on 15-16 February 2023 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Themed "Rethinking Dispute Resolution in an Ever-Changing World", the conference featured An ICC Institute Advanced Level Training on Complex Arbitrations as well as a diversity session on "Why diversity and inclusion are important in any arbitration career".

Prof. Dr. H. Ercüment Erdem, Founder and Senior Partner of Erdem & Erdem, Chairman of the ICC CLP Commission, Member of the ICC Court of Arbitration, Member of the ICC Turkey Arbitration Commission, took part in the session "What the Future Holds and How We Get There: The ICC Centenary Declaration on Dispute Prevention and Resolution" moderated by Alexander G. Fessas, Director and Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. Ercüment Erdem joined Lara Hammoud, Independent Arbitrator, Arbitra International, United Arab Emirates and Deputy General Counsel of ADNOC, and Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Independent Arbitrator and Professor of Private International Law and English Contract Law at Cairo University, in a session on the founding values of the ICC Court, its instrumental role in setting standards and norms to meet the global needs of businesses, and its leading role in shaping the future of dispute prevention and resolution to meet the needs of the global business community.

The event, in which the latest trends, developments and strategies in the field of arbitration in the Middle East were discussed, attracted great interest from lawyers, arbitrators, mediators, corporate counsel, academics and professionals interested in and working in international arbitration.
