Erdem & Erdem Managing Associate Ecem Süsoy Uygun gave training on “Data Law, Greenwashing and Ethics in the Energy Sector” on Sunday, February 2, 2025, as part of the Energy Law Certificate Program organized by Yıldız Technical University and Istanbul Institute.

During the training, Ecem Süsoy Uygun emphasized that with the acceleration of digitalization in the energy sector, the importance of data utilization has increased. She highlighted that data law plays a strategic role in managing production, distribution, and consumption processes within energy markets and directly contributes to their efficiency. Additionally, she addressed the risk of misleading the public through “greenwashing” practices, where companies claim to engage in environmentally friendly activities without genuine commitment. She underscored that such practices are not only contrary to the law but also violate ethical principles within the sector. In this context, she stressed that adherence to transparency and ethical standards is crucial for steering the energy sector toward a sustainable future.

Lawyers, engineers and mid-level and senior managers in the energy sector participated in this training, which was organized with the aim of eliminating the gaps in legal knowledge in the rapidly growing and strategically important energy sector and exploring ways to solve the complex problems that arise.
