20th Regional Private International Law Conference Opening Reception

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, Erdem & Erdem hosted the opening reception of the “20th Regional Private International Law Conference” at our Istanbul office.

The opening speech was delivered by Erdem & Erdem’s Founder and Senior Partner Prof. Dr. Ercüment Erdem, titled “Arbitration in Türkiye.” Prof. Dr. Erdem provided a comprehensive overview of the historical development, current legal framework, and recent trends in arbitration practice in Türkiye.

During the panel session, distinguished speakers from Erdem & Erdem addressed various aspects of arbitration law and practice. Dr. Rifat Cankat, in his presentation “Arbitrability of Corporate Law Disputes,” discussed the concept of arbitrability and the applicability of arbitration in intra-corporate disputes. Erdem & Erdem Managing Associate Mehveş Erdem Kamiloğlu, in her presentation “Public Policy in Enforcement Proceedings in Light of the Court of Cassation’s Decisions,” examined the scope of public policy and judicial perspectives on the enforcement of arbitral awards. Erdem & Erdem Managing Associate Duygu Öner Ayçiçek, in her talk titled “A Practical Perspective on Procedural Differences Between the Turkish Code of Civil Procedure (HMK) and the International Arbitration Law (MTK),” analyzed procedural distinctions between domestic and international arbitration through practical examples.
