Amendments to the Communiqué on Securities Maintenance

The Communiqué Amending the Communiqué on Securities Maintenance (Amending Communiqué) is published in the Official Gazette dated 25.06.2023 and numbered 32232. Significant amendments introduced by the Amending Communiqué are summarized below.

• The securities maintenance ratio is reduced from 10 percent to 5 percent.
• The percentage of Turkish lira deposits/participation funds in total deposits/participation funds for real and legal persons shall be calculated and the securities maintenance ratio will be increased by 7 points for banks whose lower of these calculations is below 57 percent, and will be reduced by 2 points for banks whose lower of these calculations is 70 percent and above.
• With the Amending Communiqué, to be applied until 29.09.2023, in the event that the conversion is 10.00 percent below the conversion rate from foreign currency deposits/participation funds to Turkish lira deposits/participation accounts to be calculated by banks, securities in an amount twice the amount of the missing portion will be blocked. This provision shall not apply to banks whose foreign currency deposit/participation fund size is below the amount to be determined by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye.
