Capital Markets Board's (CMB) Decision dated 05.12.2024 and numbered 62/1863 (Decision No. 62/1863) was published in its Bulletin dated 05.12.2024 and numbered 2024/55.

The important issues and amendments envisaged by Decision No. 62/1863 are summarized below:

  • The CMB’s previous decision dated 06.02.2023, a short-selling ban was imposed imposed a short-selling ban on BIST equity markets. With Decision No. 62/1863, it was decided to lift the short-selling ban, effective January 2, 2025, limited to the equity markets within the BIST 50 index as announced by Borsa İstanbul A.Ş.
  • CMB has decided that investors and investment institutions be informed that in the transactions conducted in the equity markets where the short-selling ban has been lifted, it is obligatory to flag securities sold short without prior ownership and closed within the same trading session in compliance with the applicable capital markets regulations.
